Main Quests
The primary quests will probably involve your search for the true heir of the throne. In addition, you will be investigating the mysterious plane of Oblivion, the nature of the demonic invasion and the problematic gate which stratifies the former and the realm of the living.
Side Quests
Side quests augment the gamplay time greatly. Although inconsequential to the main storyline, these independent and often times exhilirating missions allow for greater immersion in Cyrodiil and various other neighboring provinces.
Faction Quests
In the game there will be different factions, also called guilds, which you can join. These include the following ones:
Every faction has a purpose. You will be given random tasks from the guild or order you affiliate yourself with. These quests serve to increase your rank and allow you better benefits. In addition, as your exploits in the world of Tamriel increase, so will your fame.
There are also five Counts fighting for power in the turmoil caused by the death of the Emperor, who can give you local quests, but you will be unable to join them and help out a particular one.
